Irma Omerzo
Irma Omerzo was born in 1969 in Zagreb, where she lives and works as a choreographer, Feldenkrais Method practitioner, and head of the Dance department at the University of Zagreb’s Academy of Dramatic Art. After studying from 1989 to 1991 at the National Centre of Contemporary Dance in Angers, France, she worked as a dancer with the choreographers Andy de Groat, Philippe Decouflé, and François Verret until 2005. In 2001 she founded the Zagreb-based artistic organization MARMOT. She is the author of nineteen dance performances and six dance films, and her artistic interest often centers on dance visibility issues and space explorations. As a choreographer, she successfully collaborated with multimedia artist Igor Grubić on his project East Side Story in 2007. In 2011 she received an award from the Croatian Association of Dance Artists (UPUH) for her choreographic work.
